What’s important to remember is that if you want change to happen, sometimes you have to be the change.

As I walked, I found myself using many of the same tools I offer to my coaching clients. Reframing tough moments, breaking big challenges into micro goals, and taking time to pause and look back at how far I’d come.

Then it hit me: If you want someone to not feel alone, and to feel heard, you have to listen, I am really listening to them.

Reflecting on the events, I saw how my dyslexia and neurodivergent strengths had helped me navigate a crisis effectively.

As I reflected on my experience during the return flight, I realised the impact this experience had on my perception of self.

I learned the power of disclosure and being able to self advocate. I even learnt to use the negative reactions as opportunities for education.

Rather than viewing neurodivergence as a hindrance, we should celebrate the diversity it brings to the collective human experience.

During this whole direction-seeking escapade, I couldn’t help but reflect on how much I depend on my smartphones for navigation these days. We often take for granted the convenience of GPS apps, forgetting that not too long ago, we relied on paper maps and asking strangers for help.
